Born in Italy I have always been passionate about the sea. I undertook my studies in Marine Biology first at the University of Pisa in Italy, and then at Rhodes University in South Africa.

I am a Marine Ecologist specialized in trophic ecology of coastal intertidal, subtidal and deep sea areas. My research mainly focuses on understanding the effects of climate change, environmental factors and human activities on trophic dynamics of these ecosystems, and to evaluate possible solutions to these threats.

I am currently a Tenure Track Principal Investigator at the Department of Coastal Systems, Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (NIOZ).

Me and my research!
